This June, we had the pleasure of attending the “Life Beyond the Spotlight” Forum organized by the Serbian Association of Managers (SAM). The theme of this year’s forum was what happens after the spotlight fades, when the cameras stop rolling, the sports seasons end, and one career chapter closes. Is it the end of success or the beginning of something entirely new?
Through the inspiring stories of professionals from the worlds of sports, arts, and business, we explored how passion, discipline, and lifelong learning transcend industries.
Key Takeaways:
Passion and discipline are universal drivers of success. Whether on stage, on the court, or in a boardroom, sustained growth comes from continuous learning and relentless dedication.
Career transitions require support. Athletes and artists often face uncertainty after their primary careers end. Education, mentorship, and opportunities for reinvention are crucial.
Leadership isn’t limited to business schools. Teamwork, focus, and resilience are traits many athletes bring into their next professional chapter.
Creative thinking is a leadership asset. As actor and producer Miloš Biković noted, imagination fuels both artists and strong leaders.
We were especially moved by stories from Miloš Biković, Ivan Miljković, Sanja Malagurski, and Nikola Mijailović, who all shared how they embraced change and redefined success on their own terms. Industry leaders emphasized how we, as a business community, can provide the structure and encouragement for such transitions.
For us at Taraba, the forum was a timely reminder:
Careers evolve. Meaningful work isn’t tied to one role, it lives in our values, our impact, and our willingness to grow. We left the forum energized, reminded that integrity, curiosity, and collaboration remain the foundation of every chapter, no matter where it begins.
Thank you to SAM for the opportunity to connect, learn, and reflect on what it means to lead, on and off the stage.
